Role-Playing

This post goes out to all working moms and dads all over the world, you have my utmost respect now and then :')

I had my fair share of what it is like to be one, even if it's for a few days. And I don't intend to make a big deal out of this, so don't get me wrong. It has been awhile since we were last home alone dan tak pernah lebih sehari -- so yeah.

The minute Ayah & Ummi decided to be by Jennyto's side there in Medan, I was so ready to be the man of the house (till Angah comes home over the weekend), handling Zaki & 'Aliya's well being, managing the house chores and still go to work.

I drove to work so that I could cabut early to pick up adik-adik and later prepared dinner, sending them for training sessions etc etc.

Fortunately for me, Zaki & 'Aliya behaved, but unfortunately, they do not all the time. Bila sorang-sorang tunjuk pe'el memasing, Along tengok derang tu kecik besar kecik besar kecik je -_-"

Specially 'Aliya yang memang manja teramat. Bila Ayah Ummi tiada, dia mula tunjuk perasaan dan sensitif tak bertempat. Tidur malam tak lena, terjaga acapkali mencari Ummi dan mula lah cranky the next day bila tak cukup tidur.

Cranky as in berdrama sebelum ke sekolah. Menyorok tepi katil sambil tulis surat konon mengadu kat Ummi.

"Along amik gambar adik ni, upload kat facebook pastu tag Ummi jap lagi, nak? Biar Ummi tau, nak? Nak takkk?"

It worked out alright; all the time.
Since Ayah & Ummi pantau our/their Facebooks and they are always online and all, she knows I'm not joking about it.

Zaki was around since SBP students were given 3 weeks of school hols instead of two. Which means, kekerapan 'Aliya menjerit secara tiba-tiba setiap sepuluh minit adalah tinggi. Bikin Along terkocoh-kocoh lari dari belakang takut-takut mende lain yang jadi. But there are times I just let them tease and quarrel among themselves sebab tahu in the end, they will just make peace with each other.

Kemain lagi team up buli Along lak pastu -_-"

When Angah came home, I could concentrate more on the house chores as Angah would entertained them well. Maka tenanglah juga Along prepare dishes for them instead of terjerit-jerit kat dapur bila adik-adik senyap sepi (sebab tengah wat mischief) kat depan -_-"

We had to get Zaki's stuff so out we went. Angah went to get support (his girlfriend, A'a) so that I could focus on the groceries shopping. Appreciate it much as Zaki & 'Aliya are really fond of A'a very much :')


We really tire them kids out, balik rumah je memasing terbongkang tidur. Senang kerja, haha.

Sunday saw us waking up early and we cleaned up the house together to welcome Jenn's homecoming sambil last minit getting Zaki's school things sambil last minit attend to 'Aliya nye "Alamak adik ada homework tak siap lagi!" hoho.

Dah siap semua, barulah leh on TV, on Facebook, online check result bola sebab 1. tak larat stay up 2. takleh tengok repeat sebab janji dengan 'Aliya she can watch her Astro Ceria -_-"

Petang hantar Zaki balik asrama. Comel gila Along, Angah & 'Aliya gilir-gilir check barang-barang Zaki, takut terlupa. Selalu Ummi yang check semua. Lepas Maghrib, Angah balik KL. 'Aliya pula ada tuition. Rasa sunyi gila tinggal sesorang jap tadi :(

So yeah, that's pretty much of us, me think.
I know now how it is to pull it together without any drama and still be sane, hehe. I now appreciate much what Ayah & Ummi did for us, nak-nak anak-anak yang dah besar kemain lagi dramanya, kannn.

Anyways, I shall miss being in-charge once Ayah & Ummi's home, but I don't mind coz they are bringing Jennyto back with them, yippie yeay!!

I owe much to Jennyto's good friend; Iela for helping out & staying around with Jennyto a lot. She was the one who calmed Ummi down over the phone and I knew Jenn was in good hands with Iela there by her side. As I'm writing this, Iela is back in Malaysia for the weekend to attend her elder sister's wedding reception.

But before going back, Iela managed to upload a few pictures of Jenn for us here.

Gelisah sungguh Along bila tiada gambar Jennyto yang jelas. Eh, tak, Along syukur dapat at least tau keadaan dia sana cuma I can't help but imagining her face -- rabun tanpa spek, bibir berpouting senget bila sakit atau tak puas hati dan ya, muka pucat tak cukup tidur dek masa klinikal yang melebihi 24 jam biasanya.

Comot.

This is her usual sleeping position, only this time without thick books & a laptop scattered nearby her, hehe.

I managed to YM with Jennyto just now and she's doing okay, alhamdulillah. Still waiting for the body cast, though. If not today, tomorrow the latest. Along plak yang excited, nak tengok dia fitting bagai. Bukannya apa, cepat dia pakai body cast, cepatlah dia ikut Ayah Ummi pulang ke Malaysia!

Dalam kesempatan ini juga, Along nak say thanks for the ever flowing prayers, get well wishes, motivating comments, tags & entries --- semoga Allah membalas tiap doa & keikhlasan kalian, insyaAllah.

Doa

Sedaya boleh Along mahu diamkan hal ini dari kamu semua -- bimbang dibilang tagih simpati.

Tapi Along usahkan tagih, Along rayu pada semua untuk mendoakan seikhlasnya kerana doa-doa kalianlah yang bakal membantu kami sekeluarga menghadapi dugaan besar di waktu ini.


The accident took place last Sunday night when she was on her way to Rumah Sakit Adam Malik (a hospital in Medan, Sumatera Utara), where she is serving her clinical sessions there. She was riding her trusty scooter when she was approached by a speeding car, drove by a drunk driver.

Itu yang diceritakan oleh Jenn secara ringkas pada Ummi & Ayah pada malam kejadian. I didn't have the chance to talk to her, but I did text her to be strong for the time being. She was later sent to the hospital by her good friends and is now being warded in Rumah Sakit Bunda Thamrin.

I only got to know the details of the incident the next day, and it broke my heart upon knowing it.

The car that rammed her crashed into a lorry, causing the drunken driver to die at the scene. At this time, my sister was thrown away from her bike and was lying on the road helplessly.

What happened next really made me cry.

The co-driver/passenger of the car, with blood covering his face and hand, walk towards my sister and was about to BEAT her before he was stopped by another guy, who witnessed the whole accident.

What is the beating for in the first place? For causing your friend's death?? :(

My sister who was shaken by the fall at first; thought that the passenger-guy wanted to help her out but later realised he was jerking and pulling her clothes and bag fiercely. If not for the witness guy who protected my sister, I couldn't imagine how would my baby sister is doing now :( :(

As a result from the accident, Jenn fractured her left hand and faced a compression fracture of L1 vertebrae (backbone). In simple terms, she can't move, can't sit and can't stand; for any slight of movement would cause severity to her backbone :(

It really got me when she cried over the phone and the fact that she still prays, biarpun hanya dengan menggedipkan mata :( :(

She is to wear a body cast soon for the next 6-8 weeks. At the moment I'm writing this, Ummi & Ayah are flying there to see her and arranging all the procedures to bring her back home, so to be close to us and in familiar surroundings.

As for now, my family & I would like thank you all in advance for the prayers and well wishes.

Jangan nangis lagi eh, Lang.

Anak Ayah

He saw me wiping my tears as I was in the middle of watching of My Name Is Khan. My movie marathon on the laptop is bothering him, somehow. Or else he wouldn't come in knocking the room several times now.

Him : Tadi Papadom. Now citer hindustan lak. Are you okay?

Me : Okay je. *lap air mata* Sedihhhhh kot citer-citer ni yah!

Him : You don't have to watch all that if you don't want to, you know?

Me : At least I am reminded, pengorbanan seorang ayah dalam citer-citer ni. *senyum*

Him : Iyooolahhhh. *senyum*

Me : Tapi Along tak tengok citer-citer ni semua pun, Along tetap sedar apa yang Ayah dah buat untuk kiteorang selama ni.

Him : Chewah. Menusuk ke kalbu ku. *sambil buat gaya jantung dipanah cupid*

Me : Malas cakap dengan Ayah. *pakai headphone balik*

Him : *mumbling something*

Me : *tolak headphone ke belakang* Apa dia, yah?

Him : Takdepape. *walks out of the room*

Me : Yah! Cakaplah!

Him : Anak ayah kuat bena emosinya.

Me : Anak ayah jugekkkkkk..

Him : Sebab tu ayah cakap ayah sayang gak along tadi, cengeng cengeng camnepun.

Me : Chewah. Menusuk ke kalbu ku. HAHAHAHAHA.

He took the pillows nearby and threw it at me.
Pillow wars instantly.
As I duck for cover, I yelped "Ye ye sayang ayah jugakk!! Ayahhhh!!! KENA LAPTOP NI LAHHHHH!!!"




Selamat Hari Ayah, Ayah.

Dan untuk setiap ayah di luar sana, ada dan tak ada, dekat dan jauh, setahun jagung dan bertahun-tahun lamanya; terima kasih :')

Padanlah.

I was getting ready when 'Aliya entered the room. She sat on the bed and looked at how I was struggling to zip up the back of my 'baju kurung moden'.

'Aliya : Kak long ada kenduri lagi?

Me : Haah.

'Aliya : Kawan Along kawen ke?

Me : Ye, kawan Along. Takkan kawan adik lak.

'Aliya : Adik tanya je la.

I laughed at her, kejam I know I am. She kept on observing me as I hastily re-applied my smudged eyeliner, her jaws dropping without noticing.

Me : Melopong tengok Along tu kenapa?

'Aliya quickly closed her mouth and chuckled a bit, malu terkantoi sambil buat-buat kemas katil tiba-tiba.

Me : Adik duk umah eh. Along gi kejap je.

'Aliya : Ok.

I was about to exit the room when I noticed I left my brooch on the pink drawer. As I went to get it, 'Aliya stopped me midway.

'Aliya : Along! Adik dah tahu nape Along tak kawen lagi.

Me : Heh?

'Aliya : Sebab kak long pandai gosok baju, pandai masak, pandai kemas rumah.

Me : Huh? Ape adik cakap ni?

'Aliya : Betul, ***** kawen aritu tapi dia tak reti lagi buat semua yang Along buat.

Me : Mandai je. Jodoh dia da sampai awal, bukan sebab tak reti masak ke ape.

'Aliya : Betullaaa, Wan pun cakap camtu masa cakap dengan Ummi. Adik dengar.

Me : Ala, dia dah kawen tu dia reti la buat tu semua nanti.

'Aliya : Tapi kalau adik pun adik mesti kawen dulu nanti dari Along.

Me : Sebab adik tak reti kemas rumah semua eh?

'Aliya : Bukan adik sengaja yang tak reti, Along yang tak bagi adik buat.

Me : PAPE JE LAH DIK OI TEPI HA ALONG DAH LAMBAT NI.

And she yelled "Betullaaahhh" behind me as I left the house. 'Aliya's little theory buat Along terfikir, and I laughed at some point while driving. It could be coincidently true to some people I've known, and I never ever thought of it until that day!

So lepas ni Along kena buat-buat tak reti masak, tak reti gosok baju dan kemas rumah lah supaya leh kawen cepat, ye dik? -_-"

Pink Purple Berries

Pernah pergi ke majlis dimana semuanya telah selesai dikemas, tikar digulung, periuk belanga sudah halfway dicuci dan yang tinggal hanyalah muka-muka tuan rumah majlis yang kepenatan tapi bersyukur majlisnya berjalan lancar seperti yang dirancang?

Along pernah.

I wanted to be early for Afra & Rafeq's engagement, and I tried to, despite I have to attend family weddings prior to her event time.

I would have made it if not for the slow moving traffic from KL to Seremban, I swear I would. Even Afra knew well enough how I could just be on time despite where I was at that time.

Tapi mungkin bukan rezeki Along that day.
Or else, I could witness the transition of her in becoming Rafeq's fiancée :')

I know Rafeq would have loved to tease me if I was around, as much as I would love to find faults with him, but we'll catch up in our next get together, ya kalian?

At least they knew I did my best to be there, as much as I know I would do better for their big day soon, InsyaAllah.

My heartiest congratulations to you two lovable berries :')

Cinta Terakhir

Antara ucap kata tahniah yang diperdengarkan secara lintas langsung di sebuah majlis resepsi serba indah, kata-kata musisi Anang Hermansyah pada pasangan mempelai menusuk terus pada jiwa kosong ini.

Bait-bait "Selamat membentuk keluarga yang sakinah mawaddah wa rahmah, Anne dan Nik. Moga cinta ini cinta terakhir kalian, insyaAllah." cukup menyedarkan Along tentang keindahan hidup memiliki dan dimiliki.


I was humbled enough when Farina invited me along to Anne & Nik's reception. Thinking it wouldn't hurt a single soul to witness another fairytale becomes true, I accepted it wholeheartedly. Thank you so much, Cik :')

The venue took place in KGPA where we witnessed a beautiful English inspired garden wedding theme, complete with pretty Hydrangeas and Roses in every corner and on every table. It's exactly what you expected a garden wedding should be, you just could feel the love in the air.

Buat yang tidak mengenali Anne, Anne adalah salah satu penyampai radio HotFM, dimana dia biasanya digandingkan dengan Ikhwan pada waktu malam. She also happens to be the SIL of a blogger mama which I very much silently read, AnnaSueJie :')

Kedua mempelai diraikan meriah oleh kaum keluarga dan rakan terdekat, with each have something to share among them. It was pure sweetness in the atmosphere,that's for sure.

Anne's big family

Anne's other family, spot on!

Before Leya sang a song composed by her husband, she delivered a meaningful speech which made my heart gleamed at the thought of my now married friends.

Apa khabar mereka sekarang, ya?

Tahniah & Selamat Pengantin Baru!

Hari Tiga, Hari Akhir.

Hari akhir di Perhentian, hati paling berat. Kena drag out from the bed. Ikut hati emosi, memang takkan dapat lihat matahari terbit di pulau besar itu.

Biarpun tak nampak matahari dek kedudukan kami di teluk, dilindungi pulau bunian, Along syukur tak ikut kata hati yang emosi. Perasaan itu, hm. Sejuk bayu air laut yang terasa di muka, hmm. Air laut mengacah-acah di gigi pantai, macam tau-tau saja kami semua belum mandi.

Lain sungguh rasanya bangun di pagi Isnin di atas pulau :')

Zuan & Emy was among the few to check out first that day. Mereka pulang by flight, and the only taxi boat available was either in the morning at 8.30 or at 3 pm. They wouldn't make it to Kota Bharu if they were to get the afternoon boat - to check in & all, so we had to bid them good bye after having breakfast together. Oh, bye bye Iskandar too!

As for the four of us; Naja, Ikmal, Omar & I continued lazing around the island, packed our things as we had to check out by 12, did my lil' project with the help from the guys, had lunch and slept even more.

I guess I got the sleep bug there alright. I just can sleep anywhere, be it at the table or on the sand or when there was a group of pakcik makcik datang kursus or the smaller-than-me hammock, I could sleep like a baby, siap leleh leleh air liur lagi -_-"

Knowing the friends won't leave my side, I just slept like I just have to. I was selfish alright, all I wanted to do was sleep, sleep and sleep. As if I won't be sleeping ever again when I leave the island, haha.

It was around three pm when it was time to leave and I regretted not saying goodbye to every inch of the island (motif?). I will never know when will I return, but I will, God willing.

Since we still have time to kill before boarding the bus at 8, we hung out at the nearby stalls and had Terengganu keropok lekor. Ikmal even made friends with a tourist (and the tourist was a somebody,but I forgot the details). While they shopped for souvenirs, I got a Padi t-shirt -- just so you know, to motivate myself to come back as a certified diver :')

So that's pretty much of our island getaway.

Zillion thanks to Naja, Ikmal, Omar, Emy & Zuan for letting me be part of this trip and I wish there'll be more trips that I could join, speshly that got to do with the sand, sea & sun again!

The tan is here to stay for a little while, and the memories will last.

Thanks to you too, yang doakan Along selamat pergi & balik, yang doakan Along happy je kat situ, you know who you are.

Tau :')

Dua Pulau, Hari Dua.

Hari kedua di Pulau Perhentian, masih macam tak percaya sampai di Perhentian. Rindu sangat Along pada pulau ini, sungguh. Rindu sampai sengal-sengal badan, apa motif? Rupa-rupanya, hanya insan-insan yang kurang lapisan lemak dan tak cukup kusyen saja sengal otot segala. Omar, Emy dan Zuan sikit pun tak rasa apa -_-"

Pagi dimulai dengan menculik Iskandar lari ke bilik Omar & Ikmal, tapi kegiatan haram itu dapat dihidu oleh ibunya, maka Along terpaksa memulangkan Is dengan satu harapan : Akan ku culik kau di lain waktu, budak!

Sebelum ke aktiviti berat seterusnya, ayuh kita sarapan dulu!

Tanning session semalam ternyata berkesan, it really shows. *berkilat muka*

It's either a quick nap or jumping around after meals.
Siapa suruh Ah Seng lambat sangat siap!

Our agenda for Day Two was Redang & Lang Tengah all day long. We bought all the necessities in Naja's awesome dry bag, splurging sunblocks on each other's face and was superduper happy with the bright sunny weather.


Redang was an hour journey more or less, but with the wide spread of shining blue sea water, who would have noticed how time passed by.

The minute we saw Redang in sight, we were blown away by the breathtaking view, the white clean sand, the Mo Mo Cha Inn & Laguna Beach Resort plus a few chalets nearby that we wished we had stayed in Redang instead of Perhentian!

We just had to take a dip, oh we must!

And later, an ice-cream treat at the infamous Mo Mo Cha Inn.

We are planning to stay in Redang in our next trip *wheehoo!*

We were there for a good one hour before moving to the next island but in Redang still, where we'll be having lunch & snorkeling activities.

But before that, we 'made' an awesome sand castle!!

Yeah, rrright.
Takat poser semua pandai lah, ntah sesapa punya ni ntah.

Lunch time, kekenyangan. But it was tooooo hot to feel sleepy. So the only solution was to join the snorkeling activities -- even it looked ridiculous to swim time matahari terpacak baiiik atas kepala haha.

Saja nak tunjuk betapa beza clarity air laut Redang & Perhentian.

It was breathtaking snorkeling in Redang, there are more fishes, variety of corals and somehow lebih indah dari di Perhentian. Ok dah nampak sangat jatuh cinta dengan Redang.

After another hour there, we took off to Lang Tengah. Lang Tengah is a small beautiful island, but more like a pit stop for divers. And FYI, most of the Lang Tengah is owned by private property so there was nothing much to explore.

One of the private property is a white villa with a scenic view.

Tempted gila to run along this wooden bridge, but we can't :(

So we settled with what we do best - lazing around!!

I even had a nap, nyaman sungguh!

After that we head to the waterfall -- mandi-mandi & makan buah lagi. Had water fights with Ah Seng too, HAHA!

We reached back to Perhentian around 5, where it was still early to get ready for dinner. We got ourselves a volley ball and hey, volley!

I can't remember who was on which team, but the minute I knew Iskandar's parents were playing, Along apa lagi -- amik peluang ah hihi!

Dah la kacak, pandai cekak pinggang cekik leher bagai hihi.

After the volley match ended, we walked and went swimming nearby, knowing that was our last chance to do so before leaving the next day. We had burgers prior to dinner too, saja nak rasa burger orang pulau camne -_-"

We witnessed the sunset, beautifully captured by Omar.

You could see the sun rays fulfilling the sky, indah sangat!

For dinner we had seafood BBQ and we played Uno like we would never play again. Another night stroll by the beach where we silently said our goodbyes to the sea, sand and memories.

That was pretty much happened on our second day of the trip. I almost uploaded the whole Facebook album in this entry, I just can't help it. It was too beautiful to share with, and I'm fortunate to have friends to help capture the moments.

The next entry won't be much, but more of us checking out.
I'm glad I have the time to jot everything down, at least when I read back, the memories will keep coming back to me.
